Some frequently asked questions…

  • What a lovely idea, but unfortunately our girls (the cows) are busy working, eating and milking. The working side of the farm itself is not safe for the public to be in. You may see the girls grazing in the fields, or walking between sheds. Give them a wave!

You will be able to meet the Hens though, who live in the Orchard, they are surprisingly friendly, we just ask that you don’t touch or feed them.

  • We fully understand that it can be expensive to feed a family, particularly when out and about. But we kindly ask that you only consume food bought from our café when visiting us. Supporting our café helps to keep us open and providing income to support the independent business. Thank you, we really appreciate it.

  • Yes! Well-behaved dogs on leads are always welcome in the shop, café and patio area (just not in the Play Area!) We even have some treats for your pooch behind the till and fresh water available for them!

  • We love walk-ins but we encourage you to book at table if you are a party of 6 or more people or if you have any dietary requirements. Just call us on 01935 815040 or e-mail info@blackmarshfarm.co.uk to reserve a table.

  • Tickets for the Orchard Play Area and any of our seasonal events are available on the door on the day.

  • Bring the wellies and waterproofs and have a fabulous time!

There are no reductions/discounts available in poor weather. We reserves the right to close the play area or cancel events in exceptional circumstances.

We are so lucky that Sherborne is one of the most beautiful towns in England. The charming, honey-coloured town is brimming with history and heritage and you're sure to be impressed by the array of beautiful buildings, including a magnificent Abbey, that make Sherborne so special.

This picture-perfect town boasts two castles; one romantic ruin and a delightful new castle with grounds designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown.
